Technical Integration
PromptDC is a coding-first prompt rewriter that transforms vague developer prompts into precise, implementation-ready instructions optimized for AI code generation across Codex workflows.
Codex is supported through the PromptDC VS Code extension and PromptDC Cursor extension (depending on your IDE). Use the PromptDC sidebar to configure the target profile, mode, language, format, and custom system prompt override before enhancement.
IDE Extension Workflow.
Use the matching PromptDC IDE extension (VS Code or Cursor-family IDE workflow), then rewrite prompts with the correct enhancement shortcut and manage settings from the sidebar.
01. Install the matching PromptDC IDE extension
Use the PromptDC VS Code extension in VS Code-based setups, or the PromptDC Cursor extension in Cursor and supported IDEs.
02. Open the PromptDC sidebar
Use the PromptDC activity-bar icon to access Settings, Library, and Community, then configure the Codex target profile plus mode/language/format/custom prompt override.
03. Write your prompt in chat
Write your coding task in the IDE chat input you want PromptDC to rewrite.
04. Cursor-family IDEs: select all + shortcut
If you use Codex through Cursor and other supported IDE workflows, select all prompt text (`Cmd+A` / `Ctrl+A`), then press `Cmd+Ctrl+E` (Mac) or `Ctrl+Alt+E` (Windows/Linux). PromptDC automatically replaces the prompt with the enhanced version.
05. VS Code extension: shortcut
If you use Codex through the PromptDC VS Code extension workflow, press `Cmd+Ctrl+E` (Mac) or `Ctrl+Alt+E` (Windows/Linux). PromptDC automatically rewrites and replaces the prompt.
Benchmark: Before vs After
"Build a settings screen with a few toggles."
"ROLE: Senior Frontend Engineer. OBJECTIVE: Build a responsive settings page with Notifications, Privacy, and Account sections. REQUIREMENTS: labeled toggles, helper text, save button, loading/success/error feedback, keyboard-accessible controls, and visible focus states. OUTPUT: React + TypeScript component structure with clear state handling and consistent spacing tokens."
Integration Insights.
Does PromptDC integrate directly with Codex?
Use PromptDC with Codex through the PromptDC VS Code extension or PromptDC IDE extension workflow in Cursor-family IDEs. Open the PromptDC sidebar for Settings, Library, and Community, then use the matching enhancement shortcut for your IDE.
Why use a prompt rewriter for Codex?
Rewriting clarifies scope, adds constraints, and reduces rework so the output is closer to production-ready.
Which models does this work with?
PromptDC supports multiple IDE and web AI workflows. In IDE setups you choose the target model/IDE in settings, and on supported web apps PromptDC detects the platform and applies the matching rewrite behavior.
Simple + Structured Methods.
PromptDC supports both Simple and Structured enhancement methods for different task sizes. Configure these from the PromptDC sidebar Settings tab, and users can overwrite our prompt logic with their own custom system prompt when they need project-specific rules.
Community Standards.
Open the PromptDC sidebar (Settings / Library / Community) in your IDE extension, then copy/paste prompts, system prompts, or markdown files into your Codex workflow.
