PromptDC Desktop · Terminal

Grok CLI prompt enhancer desktop app that works everywhere on macOS and Windows.

PromptDC is the first desktop app to enhance prompts inside the terminal. One macOS or Windows install works everywhere—any app, every browser, IDE and terminal—and enhances Grok, Claude Code, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI prompts through an editable review popover before you Replace or Copy.

How it works

Four steps. You stay in control.

  1. 01

    Select your prompt

Highlight the existing prompt text in the terminal input. PromptDC does not intercept everything you type into the shell.

  2. 02

    Press the shortcut

Press Cmd+Shift+E on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+E on Windows while the terminal is focused.

  3. 03

    Review and edit

PromptDC opens an editable review popover for every terminal target, so you can inspect or change the enhanced prompt.

  4. 04

    Replace or Copy

Replace pastes the enhanced prompt into the input without pressing Enter. Copy leaves the terminal input unchanged.

Detection

Grok CLI on macOS and Windows

Grok CLI is detected on both platforms. PromptDC is a native app for macOS 12.0 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel, and for Windows. Integrated terminals inside VS Code, Cursor, Claude, and Codex are focus-detected.

Enhancement behavior

Tool-aware enhancement behavior

When PromptDC detects Grok CLI, the Code profile uses the general coding prompt to create implementation-ready instructions; Grok does not use a tool-specific enhancement prompt.

Terminal safety

Review before anything changes.

The editable review popover always opens for terminal targets. Replace pastes the text into the terminal input and never presses Enter, so PromptDC does not submit the prompt.

On macOS, Replace clears the current terminal input line with Ctrl+E, Ctrl+U and Ctrl+K before pasting. It does not send Ctrl+C, so it does not interrupt a running process, but any text already typed on that line is cleared. Replace never presses Enter.

Grok CLI prompt enhancer FAQ

How does the Grok CLI prompt enhancer work?

PromptDC is the first desktop app to enhance prompts inside the terminal. Select a Grok CLI prompt, press Cmd+Shift+E on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+E on Windows, review the editable result, then choose Replace or Copy.

Which enhancement prompt does Grok use?

PromptDC detects Grok on macOS and Windows and enhances the selected text with the general coding prompt. It does not use a Grok-specific enhancement prompt.

Does PromptDC intercept everything I type into Grok?

No. PromptDC acts only when you select existing prompt text and trigger the shortcut. It does not intercept everything typed into the shell.

Does PromptDC work outside Grok CLI?

Yes. One desktop install works in any app, every browser, IDE chat panel and terminal on macOS and Windows, with a default profile for each app. The Chrome extension adds in-place web rewriting without Accessibility permission; optional IDE extensions add target-agent and output controls.

Can Replace submit a Grok prompt?

No. Replace pastes the enhanced prompt into the terminal input and never presses Enter. On macOS, it first sends one Ctrl+C, which can interrupt a running foreground process or streaming response.

What does PromptDC require?

PromptDC requires sign-in, an internet connection, and a paid plan. Enhancement calls a remote endpoint; there is no free plan, free trial, or free credits.
