Download PromptDC for Desktop from /download. Use /download/desktop/mac-arm64 for Apple Silicon Macs, /download/desktop/mac-x64 for Intel Macs, and /download/desktop/win-x64-exe for Windows. Open the app, sign in, and on macOS grant the Accessibility permission so PromptDC can read the selection and paste back. The desktop setup guide at /docs/desktop walks through the rest.
PromptDC for Desktop is the first app that enhances coding prompts inside the terminal, across multiple terminals and CLIs. Select the prompt in the terminal, press the shortcut, review it in the editable popover, then choose Replace. Replace pastes the text but never presses Enter, so you always submit it yourself. It works with Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Grok CLI, Agy (Antigravity CLI), and OpenCode; see /docs/desktop/terminal for the full workflow.
On macOS, grant the Accessibility permission first. Without it PromptDC cannot read the selection or paste back. Then confirm you are signed in, because enhancement requires sign-in and a network call. Make sure a text selection actually exists before you press the shortcut. The desktop troubleshooting guide at /docs/desktop/troubleshooting covers the rest.
No. On macOS, Replace clears the current input line with Ctrl+E, Ctrl+U and Ctrl+K before pasting. It never sends Ctrl+C, so it does not interrupt a running process or a streaming response, but anything already typed on that line is cleared. Replace never presses Enter. CLI detection inspects the whole terminal process tree, so with several tabs open it may identify a CLI from a different tab.
If you want the browser option, add the PromptDC extension from the Chrome Web Store, then sign in. The floating toolbar appears when you focus a text box on any site, and the right-click "Enhance with PromptDC" menu (or Ctrl+Shift+Space / Cmd+Shift+Space) works everywhere too. See the Installation guide in the docs for step-by-step instructions.
On the Developer Lifetime plan you can add your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or Grok API key. Create a key in your provider's dashboard, paste it into PromptDC, and pick the provider and model to use. You then pay only your provider for usage (typically ~$1-3/month). See the BYOK page and API key management docs for details.
You can cancel anytime from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid term, and you keep access until then. PromptDC has a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first charge; email [email protected] within 14 days and we'll refund it in full. Renewal payments aren't covered. Manage your subscription and payment details from your account settings, or email us if you need help.
First check that PromptDC isn't disabled for that site. Per-site disable is remembered, so re-enable it from the toolbar's disable button or the right-click menu. Make sure you're signed in and that you've focused an editable text box. You can also select your text and use the right-click "Enhance with PromptDC" menu or the keyboard shortcut. If it still doesn't work, email support with the site and steps.
Yes. Use Action to type a one-off instruction such as "shorten this", "make it formal" or "turn this into bullet points". It applies the instruction to your selected text, does not save it as a profile, accepts up to 19,000 characters, and keeps the original language. Action works in the desktop app and Chrome extension. Turn on "Write your own action by default" if you want the panel and popover ready for an instruction.
