Free poem generator
Describe a subject, feeling, image, or occasion, and PromptDC turns it into a poem guided by the mood, form, and details you choose.
We wrap the plates in yesterday's news, stacking weather beneath weather. The chipped yellow mug survives one more decision, its handle warm from no one's hand. Empty drawers answer with small brass knocks as we close them— a house practicing goodbye in the only language it has.
Why the rewrite is better: The poem carries loss through physical actions and requested objects, while the restrained personification at the end conveys farewell without directly announcing sadness.

Rain after a dry summer
An unrhymed poem about the first rain after months of drought, seen from a city bus; relieved but not sentimental; use the smell of pavement
At the red light, rain stipples the glass and every passenger looks up. The road darkens by degrees. Through the folding doors comes the mineral breath of pavement, sharp as a struck match. No one speaks. The driver lowers his window. For three blocks, the whole bus listens to water arriving.
Why the rewrite is better: The scene stays inside the bus, lets shared gestures imply relief, and makes the scent of wet pavement the sensory turn without forcing a sentimental conclusion.
Poetry becomes specific when it works through images instead of naming an emotion and stopping there. This generator draws on the concrete details in your brief, builds a consistent voice, and shapes line breaks or rhyme around the poem's movement. Request free verse, a sonnet, a haiku, or another form, and mention words or clichés you want excluded. You may create a small number of poems here without an account. In longer creative sessions, PromptDC can rework selected lines inside your desktop editor while leaving the final choices with you.
